The program brings the album's catalog rights, the touring enterprise, and a feature film in development under one financial standard from day one. Weezer (The Gold Album), the band's twentieth studio album, was released August 21, 2026, on Reprise Records and Warner Records. Produced by Klas Åhlund and Kenneth Blume, it is Weezer's first full-length album in five years and marks a return to significant songwriting contributions from Wilson. The Gathering, the band's world tour in support of the album, opens September 8 in Sacramento, runs across North America through October, and continues internationally in 2027. Most album cycles are managed as promotion: a release date, a routing, a press window, and then the next thing. Project Aureus treats the era as what it is—a set of income-producing assets with different risk profiles and time horizons, and one owner who answers for all of them. Three Assets, One Standard Catalog The Gold Album's performance, mechanical, and master royalty streams sit on top of a catalog with continuous streaming activity since 1994, whose debut record was inducted into the Library of Congress National Recording Registry in May 2026. Under Aureus, the new album's rights are administered with clean metadata, verified registrations, and quarterly royalty reconciliation from the first statement—housekeeping most catalogs receive twenty years too late. Touring The Gathering runs through Weezer Touring, Inc., a corporate entity with more than thirty years of continuous operation and formal CFO oversight throughout. Aureus applies full cost-ledger discipline to the run: routing, production, crew, freight, and settlement tracked against budget in real time, so the tour's economics are known while the tour is happening rather than six months after it ends. Film A feature film built around the album era is in development. Film is a different business from music—licensing-window economics, territory by territory—and Aureus gives it its own workstream for clearances, sync coordination between the film and the catalog, and windowing strategy. A Long-Term Stewardship Structure Aureus is also exploring a dedicated stewardship structure for the album's royalty streams, in which the rights would be held in their own legal vehicle, isolated from unrelated liabilities, with collections reconciled quarterly and reported with the discipline of audited financials. Structures of this kind have existed in music since the late 1990s and succeed or fail on the quality of the paperwork—chain of title, registrations, splits, and metadata. That is the work Aureus does first.
